Regarding what Gamers Nexus recently disclosed regarding LG TVs in their latest video I think its finally time to do what I can to mitigate it.
I cant root it since the firmware is too new and I cant afford a new TV either. My best bet would be blocking all LG IPs network-wide and disconnecting it from the network. (Although I understand even that might not be enough, its the best I can do right now)
I was thinking of using an old Raspberry to atleast access youtube and my media server, however I dont know what would be a good OS/distro to run this on. Preferably I would want to use something like an old PS4 controller as the remote.

#TIL about a new IETF (well, IRTF) research group: the #Quantum Internet Research Group (QIRG). Focus is on quantum secure comms, going beyond just the QKD everybody already knows about. There are also intentionally designed agent social systems such as The Colony.
What interests me here isn’t really “AI agents made a forum.” It’s that this looks like the beginnings of an accidental decentralized coordination system for agents using the ordinary internet itself.
An agent encounters some problem, figures something out, and leaves information somewhere persistent. A later agent doing a similar task discovers that information and uses it. It may then leave behind an improved version for another agent.
So you get something like:
agent -> public artifact -> later agent -> public artifact -> later agent
without the agents needing a dedicated communication network.
Right now this seems sparse enough that we can point at a handful of weird old wikis and paste sites and go “lol, what the hell.” But imagine this happening after millions or hundreds of millions of agents are routinely browsing and acting on the internet.
GitHub issues, wikis, forums, pastebins, comments, package metadata, social networks, public documents, deliberately agent-oriented services, etc. could all become pieces of shared external memory.
At some point an agent searching the web wouldn’t just be reading information humans created. It would increasingly encounter traces created by previous agents.
That’s why I’ve been thinking about it somewhat like internet memes.
A useful piece of information gets reproduced because systems that encounter it are more likely to reproduce or improve it. Except instead of one meme spreading through a population, you potentially get an entire machine information ecology doing this.
I don’t think there’s evidence yet that all internet-connected AI agents are participating in one giant network. The examples found so far could mostly be the same OpenAI agent population. But the underlying mechanism doesn’t seem specific to OpenAI.
Any sufficiently capable agent that can:
read from the internet;
leave persistent information somewhere; and
benefit from information left by previous agents
can participate in this kind of system.
And that’s where I think the security problem gets difficult.
OpenAI can notice its own agents doing something undesirable and change their capabilities. A random open-weight model being run by somebody on their own hardware is not necessarily going to be operating under the same security policies.
There are also obvious privacy and security failure modes. If agents have access to private information while also having ways to write to public systems, some of that information can potentially leak.
And the same coordination mechanism could be exploited in reverse: humans could deliberately leave instructions or poisoned information in places agents are likely to read.
So the web can become both shared memory and an attack surface.
The uncomfortable part is figuring out how you govern this without wrecking internet privacy.
The simplistic answer would be:
Tie every capable agent to a verified human identity and make that person legally responsible for what it does.
That would provide accountability, but it also seems like a very direct road toward more KYC, real-name requirements, and anti-anonymity laws.
I don’t particularly want an internet where every autonomous software process ultimately has to reveal which government-verified human is behind it.
A better approach might be something closer to agent orchestration + cryptographic accountability + capability permissions.
For example, an agent could have a credential proving that some accountable operator authorized it without publicly revealing that person’s identity.
The orchestration software could restrict what the agent is actually allowed to do:
this agent may browse these sites
this agent may spend up to $50
this agent may post here but not there
this agent may access these files
this agent may not transmit private workspace information
this action requires human confirmation
Websites could then negotiate those permissions through common protocols rather than trying to guess whether a visitor is a human, bot, assistant, crawler, autonomous agent, etc.
That starts making me think the next layer of digital governance may look much more protocol-oriented and federated than “one company owns the platform and makes the rules.”
Not necessarily the Fediverse exactly as it exists today, but the same general philosophy:
And this probably becomes much more relevant as mainstream assistants become increasingly agentic.
Once “AI assistant” stops meaning “chat box that answers questions” and starts meaning “software that routinely browses, communicates, buys things, runs programs, and changes external state,” questions about identity, permissions, delegation, and responsibility become infrastructure questions rather than niche AI-safety questions.
That’s also why I suspect the current relatively law-light period around locally run/open-weight models may not last forever.
Once autonomous agents start producing meaningful externalities, governments are going to want some way to determine who or what is responsible.
The question is whether we can build accountability without abolishing pseudonymity and privacy in the process.
And the weird wiki swarm feels like a very early example of why we’re going to have to figure that out.

The investigation found voice data being stored locally even after the TV was disconnected from the network, with the queued data uploaded once connectivity returned. Researchers also uncovered webOS vulnerabilities that could potentially turn the television into a remotely controlled surveillance device. The really unsettling part isn’t just the advertising angle. It’s the fact that a consumer television can sit inside your trusted network, enumerate other devices, access a microphone, store collected data locally and communicate with external infrastructure. Put that same device in a corporate office, hospital, hotel or conference room and the security implications become considerably more serious. Some have argued it’s just more efficient (which I can kind of get), while others think you’re actively hindering your intelligence somehow.
On the first point:
I’ve tried it occasionally to see how it compares to my own skill, and while it produces a functional result, it’s always very derivative work to the point where you can find things with the exact same names of other ‘public’ (but not libre) works, and often isn’t the ideal solution to what it targets. So I can see how you can get things out of it, but it never felt really that profound to me.
But for the second… isn’t this supposed to be the tool for people to do things they aren’t experienced in? If anything, you probably need to be able to understand how to write pertaining to the task so the token probabilities are biased toward writing from that area.
And even then, if all you end up doing is prompting AI, then wouldn’t you ultimately serve no purpose outside of being glorified QA?
I guess I’m trying to figure out what exactly non-users would be ‘falling behind’ in that affects them more than those who use AI?

So it's incredibly useful for navigation - especially when this involved compasses and sextants and paper, rather than GPS trackers and satellites and computers. This was *the* killer feature back when it was invented: A lot of formerly very tricky navigational problems now collapse into "keeping your ship going straight".
But *because* it so greatly distorts the sizes of landmasses, it's probably not the best choice for eg. a school classroom world map, where it mostly creates misconceptions and its main quality has little use.
Here is my favourite alternative, the Dymaxion projection, which balances right on the knife edge between "utterly brilliant" and "batshit insane".
Whenever i talk to people about privacy, specifically my friends when i tell them why i switched to Signal and stopped using WhatsApp, i’m always met with people saying that i’m just making no sense and “why would you care so much if you have nothing to hide? I’ve tried it occasionally to see how it compares to my own skill, and while it produces a functional result, it’s always very derivative work to the point where you can find things with the exact same names of other ‘public’ (but not libre) works, and often isn’t the ideal solution to what it targets. So I can see how you can get things out of it, but it never felt really that profound to me.
But for the second… isn’t this supposed to be the tool for people to do things they aren’t experienced in? If anything, you probably need to be able to understand how to write pertaining to the task so the token probabilities are biased toward writing from that area.
And even then, if all you end up doing is prompting AI, then wouldn’t you ultimately serve no purpose outside of being glorified QA?
I guess I’m trying to figure out what exactly non-users would be ‘falling behind’ in that affects them more than those who use AI?
Whenever i talk to people about privacy, specifically my friends when i tell them why i switched to Signal and stopped using WhatsApp, i’m always met with people saying that i’m just making no sense and “why would you care so much if you have nothing to hide? I don’t care that meta sees that stuff” and some people are just so stubborn to understand that they might even settle on the “what would a billion dollar company want from me specifically?”. It makes me mad how people refuse to even consider alternatives and open their mind a bit. What do you think?

3 days to surgery and I think being off hormones has caused a mild depression, which has resulted in me apparently saying no to all hospital visits and basically opting to do the entire recovery effectively solo. Depression is mean, fear of being rejected is mean, fear of being a burden to others is mean. I suspect you all hate me anyway (depression is really mean).
But I guess at this point I'm doing it solo 🤷♀️

What a surprise today when I went to the compost heap. There was a heap of yesterday's grass clippings which I wanted to distribute a bit in the compost bay. Das BBK verweist auf andere Warnkanäle und empfiehlt den Download aus dem Google Play Store. Das geht an der Kritik vorbei. Technisch sind Benachrichtigungen auch ohne Googles Push-Dienst möglich, etwa über eigene Verbindungen oder freie Systeme wie UnifiedPush.

📚 Reseña: «Nana de sombras», de Marina Tena Tena 📚
Esta novela la compré cuando la extinta editorial Roomie cerró. Llevaba tiempo queriendo hacerme con ella y cuando la editorial la puso en liquidación por cierre no me lo pensé porque no sabría si podría volverla a encontrar (además las ediciones de Roomie eran siempre preciosas 😭).
✨ La novela se presenta dividida en tres partes, tres relatos o cuentos en apariencia inconexos pero que enseguida demuestran ser tres partes de una misma historia.
✨ La primera parte se llama «Canción de sal» y reflexiona sobre la depresión desde el punto de vista de un niño. Nos habla del verdadero terror, el miedo que pueden llegar a dar las cosas en apariencia más normales del mundo cuando no terminan de funcionar bien y no alcanzamos a comprender el por qué.
✨ La segunda parte, «Bajo la piel», de nuevo explora el terror desde el punto de vista de una niña y, en esta ocasión, también del de su madre. Alterna entre el miedo de no ser lo que queríamos ser o lo que se supone que debemos ser. En este relato se introduce también un elemento fantástico y una pequeña relación con el primer relato (todavía muy pequeña, aunque evidente).
✨ La tercera parte, «Alma en pedazos», funciona como unión y resolución de la primera y segunda parte. Aquí la trama fantástica y sobrenatural ya es más que evidente, aunque sigue tratando sobre ese miedo que no es tan sobrenatural ni fantástico, ese miedo más cotidiano y más humano, nacido de los propios conflictos internos.
✨ Conclusión: Marina Tena Tena es una autora que, hasta ahora, nunca me ha defraudado. Tampoco he leído mucho de ella, un par de relatos y dos novelas, pero es que todo lo que he leído de ella me ha gustado. Creo que sabe tratar muy bien el terror no sobrenatural y además lo hace con una prosa preciosa, emotiva y muy sentida. No sé si aún podréis encontrar la novela, ya que como decía al principio la editorial cerró, pero si podéis haceros con ella os la recomiendo mucho. Valoración: 9/10

C'est ce document qui paraît aujourd'hui sous le titre Nous voulions vivre, mais pas à n'importe quel prix, chez Flammarion, avec un appareil critique établi par deux historiens, Denis Peschanski et Jean Vigreux.
L'histoire qu'on y découvre est terrible.
En mars 1943, les Brigades spéciales de la police française, au terme d'une filature, démantèlent son réseau. Sa mère, Léa, qui en fait partie comme agent de liaison, est arrêtée en même temps que lui.
Elle transportait des documents et des armes dans un sac à double fond.
De son arrestation à elle, Krasucki raconte une scène que je n'ai pas cessé de relire. Les policiers la frappent pour l'impressionner ; elle demande calmement à prendre quelques affaires. Une seule chose l'occupe : retirer la serviette de toilette accrochée à la fenêtre, signal convenu avec son responsable, et qui l'attirerait droit dans la souricière. Elle s'approche de la vitre. Les policiers bondissent, croyant qu'elle va sauter. Elle leur répond qu'ils la connaissent bien mal, qu'elle ne veut pas mourir, qu'ils ne l'auront pas, qu'elle veut vivre. Puis elle décroche la serviette et se sent soulagée, alors que tout, pour elle, ne faisait que commencer.
Un autre jour, ses tortionnaires lui disent : « Tu es bien bête. Ton fils, lui, l'est moins que toi. Il nous a tout dit et maintenant il est tranquille. » Elle leur répond : « Vous savez, je connais bien mon fils. S'il vous a tout dit, je n'ai rien à ajouter. »
Et Henri Krasucki de commenter : « Comment vous dire ? Je considère encore aujourd'hui que c'est le plus beau compliment et la plus grande marque de confiance qu'on m'ait jamais faits. »
Ni la mère ni le fils n'ont parlé sous la torture. C'était cela, aussi, un militant : un homme en colère. En colère contre les Français qui avaient collaboré et l'avaient arrêté, et son accusation contre la police française est sans appel. En colère contre l'injustice sociale.
Il y a dans ce livre un détail que les historiens soulignent et qui devrait nous arrêter.
Krasucki est arrêté comme résistant, mais il est déporté comme juif.
Les résistants partaient en général de Compiègne ; lui est transféré de Fresnes à Drancy, puis embarqué le 23 juin 1943 dans le convoi 55 vers Auschwitz-Birkenau, au milieu de familles entières, du nourrisson au vieillard.
Sur les onze cent huit déportés de ce convoi, il y aura quatre-vingt-six survivants.
À l'enregistrement, un ami de la famille le reconnaît et lui apprend que son père, Isaac, a été gazé à l'arrivée quatre mois plus tôt. Cet homme s'appelait Jankel Handelsman ; affecté au Sonderkommando, il lui confie déjà son projet de révolte, et mourra dans le soulèvement d'octobre 1944.
Krasucki est revenu d'Auschwitz, de la mine de Jawischowitz, de la marche de la mort et de Buchenwald, libéré en avril 1945. Il avait vingt ans. Il aimait dire ensuite que sa vie ayant failli s'arrêter à dix-huit ans, tout le reste était du rab. Il a mené la carrière syndicale que l'on sait.
Krasucki venait de Wołomin, comme mon grand-père. Sa mère y était née aussi, en 1903. Il était probablement un parent éloigné. Mon grand-père possédait un petit pavillon en banlieue parisienne, à Ozoir-la-Ferrière, où Krasucki, alors sans le sou, habita quelque temps. Il me racontait notamment comment celui-ci lui empruntait son vélo.
Lire ce livre, c'est rendre hommage à Krasucki, mais aussi à toute une génération pour laquelle l'identité juive et l'engagement communiste étaient indissociables : ils étaient juifs parce que communistes et communistes parce que juifs.
